The Mile High City

Denver is referred to as the "Mile High City" because its official elevation is one mile above sea level! The area in which Denver is located was originally settled by native peoples long before the Pike's Peak Gold Rush of 1858 initiated the first steps toward the present city. Today visitors can enjoy a range of activities in and around the beautiful city.

Meow Wolf, "Denver's Premier Interactive Art Venue," is home to art installations built by over 300 artists who worked together to create 79 projects arranged throughout the four story building. The atmosphere ranges from loud and neon to dimly lit areas with fog effects.

Denver Art Museum, the city's largest art museum, is located in the busy center of the Golden Triangle Creative District. Many consider the Native American Art collection one of the best in the world. Claude Monet’s Waterloo Bridge, Sunlight Effect can also be found on display here.

Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, is a 15,000 acre wildlife refuge ten minutes north of the city, near the airport. During WWII the land was used for chemical weapons manufacturing and later declared an EPA Superfund site. After then-endangered bald eagles began nesting in the 1980's, Congress declared the land a future refuge. Now, following a $2.1 billion cleanup spend, the refuge offers visitors the chance to see buffalo, coyotes, mule deer, prairie dogs, and more.

Brutø restaurant, recent Michelin Star and Michelin Green Star recipient, is found in Dairy Block as well.
